Meet Keller Rohrback’s 2020 Summer Associates
Sydney Read, University of Colorado Law School
Sydney’s diligent care for the written word and zeal for learning new areas of law allow her to create strong and eloquently written arguments. Her high degree of intellectual curiosity, continued passion for law, and commitment to social justice make her a great fit for Keller Rohrback’s Complex Litigation Group.
Initially, Sydney was a part of the firm as a research analyst in KR’s Santa Barbara office and later as a paralegal in the Seattle office. Those experiences taught her the intricacies of complex litigation, the excitement of the legal industry in general, and the welcoming nature of the KR community. She now attends law school as a 3L at CU Boulder and has returned to KR as one of our summer associates.
Outside of work, Sydney enjoys running, skiing, and volunteering at CU’s RAP Lab.
Lauren Lankenau, Vanderbilt University School of Law
Lauren Lankenau’s passion for the environment and background in science bolster her desire to create change through environmental policy and prevention. Her drive to create widespread change and obtain justice on behalf of our global community is well suited to the firm’s environmental litigation team.
A rising 2L at Vanderbilt University School of Law, Lauren joined Keller Rohrback in 2020 as a summer associate. She initially became interested in the firm when she learned about our work on the Santa Barbara Oil Spill case in her civil procedure class. This class action exemplifies the type of litigation Lauren seeks to pursue: that which creates a lasting environmental impact while providing care to affected communities.
In addition to her coursework, Lauren serves on the Jessup International Moot Court Board and as President of Vanderbilt’s Environmental and Energy Law Society. In her spare time, she enjoys tide pooling, hiking, working on her yoga instructor certification, and spending time with her Aussiedoodle puppy, Jasper.
Rachel Bowanko, Stanford Law School
Stanford Law 2L Rachel Bowanko develops creative solutions that challenge the status quo. Rachel’s background working in renewable energy and desire to make change on behalf of those who have been harmed make her well suited to the firm’s nationally-recognized Complex Litigation Group.
Drawn to the firm’s history of negotiating settlements that include both financial remedies and lasting solutions to large-scale environmental issues, Rachel joined Keller Rohrback in 2020 as a summer associate. Our work on cases such as In re Volkswagen “Clean Diesel” Marketing, Sales Practices, and Products Liability Litigation align with Rachel’s passion for the impactful ripple effects that stem from mass and toxic torts.
In addition to her coursework, Rachel also serves as co-president of the Stanford Law Association, as a Board Member for Stanford’s Plaintiffs’ Lawyers Association, as a member of the Environmental Law Pro Bono Project, and as a Member Editor of the Stanford Law Review. She previously also served as a representative for the Environmental Law Society. In her spare time, Rachel enjoys traveling, backpacking, cooking, and spending time with her corgi, Wilson.
