Keller Rohrback takes great pride in being recognized by the American Association for Justice (AAJ) with the 2024 Steven J. Sharp Public Service Award, along with the twenty-two other member firms of the National Prescription Opiate Litigation Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee (PEC).
This award recognizes plaintiffs and the attorneys of plaintiffs whose cases help tell the story of the American civil justice system.
Representative members of the PEC were honored during an award ceremony at the Nashville Music City Center on July 22. The Keller Rohrback team was represented by partners Derek Loeser and David Ko, who attended the ceremony on behalf of the firm’s Opiate team.
In the words of the AAJ:
This year, we recognize the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee of the National Prescription Opiate Litigation, who fought back against the opioid manufacturers and the devastating damage they were causing to so many across our nation. Our communities have been torn apart by the opioid epidemic.
After one of the most complex, wide-ranging litigations in history, landmark settlements were reached with the three largest pharmaceutical distributors, national pharmacy and grocery chains, opioid manufacturers, and manufacturer Janssen Pharmaceuticals and its parent company Johnson & Johnson. And the fight continues.
The settlements are providing critical funds to rebuild communities nationwide impacted by the opioid epidemic.
Keller Rohrback is proud of the contributions that the KR opioid team has made to this complex and ongoing litigation seeking to combat the crisis of opiate addiction that still plagues our country and much of the world.
