The U.S. Justice department recently filed suit against mega-software company, Adobe, for alleged violations against federal consumer protection laws.
Known for its popular software products including Photoshop, Acrobat, Illustrator, InDesign and more, Adobe is one of the largest and most influential software developers in the world. The government's suit alleges that Adobe harmed consumers by enrolling them in its default and most lucrative subscription plan without disclosing key terms, such as early termination fees, which ultimately can end up costing the consumer hundreds of dollars, and effectively trap consumers into subscriptions they no longer want.
According to the suit, Adobe uses deceptive tactics like hiding subscription and cancellation terms behind optional text boxes, hyperlinks, and fine print. In addition, Adobe makes cancelling services an intentionally “onerous” and “convoluted” process in an effort to dissuade consumers from terminating their service.
We believe that consumers have a right to know what they are committing to, and it is a company’s responsibility to effectively disclose contract terms and related fees.
If you are a consumer who has who is currently subscribed to an Adobe service or if you have subscribed in the past, we want to talk to you about your experience.
