Congratulations Chevy Bolt Fire Settlement

Keller Rohrback is pleased to announce that on September 26, 2024, Judge Terrence Berg issued an order granting preliminary approval of a $150 million class action settlement in In re Chevrolet Bolt EV Battery Litigation

The nearly four-year litigation centered around the revelation that the batteries on 2017-2022 Chevy Bolt EVs in the United States could catch fire if fully charged, endangering personal and public property and even human lives.

Gretchen Freeman Cappio, a partner at Keller Rohrback stated “Plaintiffs are pleased that notice will be distributed shortly to purchasers and lessees of 2017-22 model year Chevy Bolts, and we look forward to taking the next steps in delivering this important relief to consumers.”

The Order sets deadlines, among others, for the Class Notice Program to begin, to file claims, and for the Final Approval Hearing, currently set for March 25, 2025. Any changes to these dates will be presented on the settlement website, which will be published shortly. You can learn more about the settlement here.

Congratulations to the KR team who worked relentlessly to make this settlement happen on behalf of the Settlement Class.
