The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is alleging that bill payment company, doxo, has been using deceptive and manipulative practices to trick consumers into paying unnecessary fees to pay their bills.
If you’ve used doxo to pay your bills, it may have happened to you. Contact us now to learn more.
Major companies that doxo purports to be a payment servicer for include Comcast, Chase Bank, Verizon, AT&T-Wireless, Wells Fargo, Capitol One, Bank of America, State Farm, Credit One Bank, DIRECTV, Waste Management, Geico, Progressive, and T-Mobile, among many others.

You may have thought you were simply making a purchase from a company doing business online. Yet doxo might have interfered in your transaction, and charged you to deliver a payment you could have made directly for free. They may have also automatically signed you up for a monthly subscription plan in the hope of adding fees to more of your online transactions.
Numerous governmental entities and service providers have issued warnings to consumers, urging them not to pay their bill though doxo. According to the FTC, doxo pretends to be an official payment site for big-name companies like AT&T, Spectrum, and Labcorp as well as municipal utilities and uses online ads that look like they are from the companies themselves to trick consumers into paying their bills using doxo’s “service” often tacking on service fees, and sometime even failing to pay the service provider at all!
Tens of thousands of consumers have complained of the deceptive methods used by doxo. If you have made online payments that were managed by doxo when you thought you were dealing directly with the seller, Keller Rohrback wants to talk to you.

More about how doxo allegedly is scamming consumers like you.
The Federal Trade Commission has filed suit against third-party internet payment company doxo for its alleged impersonation of companies that sell online. doxo intrudes into the transaction between buyer and seller using web-design tricks, giving the appearance that it is affiliated with the seller and offering to accept payment from the buyer. Consumers then provide billing details, and doxo formulates a final payment amount that includes an obscure, grayed-out “Payment Delivery Fee” which is only visible at the final payment step. An option to pay for a “PLUS” subscription that eliminates the delivery fee is prominently displayed just above a “Send Payment” button.
With payment made directly to doxo, the payment company then issues a paper check that is sent to the seller, often delayed by days or weeks and causing many consumers lapses—or even shut-offs—in services, in addition to the unnecessary fees.
