Recent news reports have revealed that Honda, Hyundai, and Kia routinely share information about drivers’ habits with insurance companies. Newer driver information systems (HondaLink, Hyundai Bluelink, etc.) collect information on every trip, including acceleration, speed, braking, and mileage data. The car companies provide that information to insurance data brokers (such as LexisNexis and Verisk). Those companies then share the driving data with insurance companies, who use the information to justify higher rates.
Car companies are allowing insurance companies to use this sensitive driving information without drivers’ knowledge or consent.
If you own or lease a Honda, Kia, Hyundai, Acura, or Genesis vehicle that is a model year 2019 or newer, we’d like to hear from you.
