Investigation of Potentially Fatal Infections Spread Through Contaminated Operating Rooms Continues

Keller Rohrback, L.L.P. attorneys are in the process of filing a lawsuit on behalf of a class of individuals in Arizona who were affected by HonorHealth John C. Lincoln Medical Center’s hiring of former employee, Rocky Allen, who tampered with surgical syringes and put their health and safety at risk for bloodborne pathogens, such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV.  Reportedly, Allen was also hired by Northwest Hospital & Medical Center and Lakewood Surgery Center in Washington, and Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Arizona, and these hospitals have contacted thousands of patients suggesting they get tested for hepatitis B, hepatitis C or HIV.

The investigation was prompted by the indictment of surgical tech Rocky Allen on charges of tampering with a consumer product and obtaining a controlled substance by deceit. Mr. Allen is accused of swapping syringes and possibly putting patients’ health and safety at risk. Mr. Allen was employed in Washington at both the Northwest and Lakewood hospitals, and was also employed in Arizona at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center and is suspected to have engaged in similar activities potentially contaminating operating rooms.

If you had surgery at Northwest Hospital & Medical Center between December 30, 2011 and March 9, 2012, or Lakewood Surgery Center between October 27, 2011 and December 1, 2011, or Banner Thunderbird Medical Center between May 19, 2014 and July 2, 2014, you may be at risk of contracting hepatitis B, hepatitis C or HIV and should get tested immediately.
