Keller Rohrback Cheers SCOTUS Ruling

Just one day after the U.S. Supreme Court’s historic opinion in Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt, the high Court has sent another strong message about the importance of women’s health and access to reproductive care. On June 28, 2016, the Supreme Court denied review of the opinion of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in Stormans, Inc. v. Wiesman, letting stand this important decision that upheld the State of Washington’s rule that protects patients from pharmacists and pharmacies who would obstruct patients’ access to emergency contraceptives because of their personal religious beliefs. In this case that lasted eleven years, Keller Rohrback attorneys Gretchen Freeman Cappio, Cari Laufenberg, and Gretchen Obrist represented Planned Parenthood in the district court by protecting sensitive patient records from disclosure. Keller Rohrback is pleased to see an excellent and definitive resolution to this long-running case, which is important to thousands of Washington’s women and families.
