Keller Rohrback continues to work on behalf of owners of EcoDiesel Ram 1500 and Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles who paid a premium for the highest possible emissions standards and who believe that they have been misled by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (“FCA”). An Amended Complaint, filed February 8, 2017, continues to keep pressure on FCA.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) and the California Air Resources Board (“CARB”) issued notices of violation to FCA alleging that about one hundred thousand 2014-2016 “EcoDiesel” vehicles use undisclosed emissions control devices that caused the vehicles to emit much higher levels of nitrogen oxides during normal operation than the applicable emissions standards allow. The affected vehicles are 2014-2016 “EcoDiesel” Jeep Grand Cherokee and Ram 1500 trucks equipped with 3.0-liter diesel engines.  The EcoDiesel® option cost consumers cost consumers thousands of dollars extra, for little or no benefit. Consumers who chose to purchase an EcoDiesel Ram 1500 or Jeep Grand Cherokee paid as much as $4,900 more than they would have for a gas-powered equivalent. FCA represented these vehicles as environmentally friendly and in compliance with emissions requirements, and many consumers who owned or leased these cars were misled by these representations.

Hundreds of consumers have contacted Keller Rohrback L.L.P. because they were misled by FCA about these expensive vehicles. A leading consumer protection firm, Keller Rohrback L.L.P. filed one of the first lawsuits against Volkswagen Group and its subsidiaries related to its diesel defeat device vehicles.
