Case Update
Keller Rohrback L.L.P. is pleased to announce that the leadership team in the In re: Consumer Vehicle Driving Data Tracking Collection Litigation has filed a Master Consolidated Class Action Complaint in the US District Court for the Norther District of Georgia. The case, filed against General Motors LLC, OnStar LLC, LexisNexis Risk Solutions Inc., and Verisk Analytics, Inc., alleges that GM sold information about the driving behavior of millions of GM, Chevrolet, Buick, and Cadillac drivers without informing the affected drivers. GM sold the information to data brokers LexisNexis and Verisk. Those companies in turn marketed the data to auto insurance companies, who used it to justify insurance premium increases.
Defendants’ practices violated drivers’ consent and privacy. The complaint seek damages, disgorgement of profits, and other relief.
Keller Rohrback Partner Chris Springer has been appointed to the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee for the LexisNexis Risk Solutions Inc. and Verisk Analytics, Inc. Litigation Track, one of two separate litigation tracks created by U.S. District Judge Thomas W. Thrash, Jr. in the litigation.
Chris Springer and Keller Rohrback look forward to working alongside the entire leadership group on behalf of Plaintiffs in this important data privacy litigation.
