If you own a 2009-present Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, or Buick truck or SUV, your vehicle may have a defect that prevents airbags and seatbelt tensioners from deploying in certain crashes, which can lead to dangerous and sometimes fatal outcomes. If you own a 2009-present GM truck or SUV contact us at (800) 776-6044, [email protected], or by using the secure form on this page.
Trucks and SUVs from General Motors brands allegedly contain defective sensing and diagnostic modules (SDMs). This issue impacts the deployment of both the airbag and seatbelt tensioner, in crashes that last longer than 45 milliseconds. GM has reportedly been aware of this defect since 1999. Since then, nearly 1,300 people have been killed or injured in front-impact collisions where the airbags in these GM vehicles did not deploy, according to data from the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration.
