Keller Rohrback investigates serious engine issues
and car fires in 625,000 Hyundai and Kia vehicles
Do you drive a 2012-2016 Kia Soul or a 2011-2013 Hyundai Tucson SUV? Our automotive litigation team would like to hear from you. Please contact attorneys Gretchen Freeman Cappio or Ryan McDevitt at (800) 776-6044 or [email protected] to discuss your potential legal claims.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Hyundai has recalled 120,000 SUVs and Kia has recalled 505,652 vehicles. These vehicles suffer from serious issues, including engine damage, engine stalling, or even fire.
Keller Rohrback filed a lawsuit in March 2019 to address these potential defects and how they may affect consumers who own or lease affected Hyundai and Kia vehicles. That litigation is ongoing, and we welcome anyone with questions or info about engine fires or sudden stalls in Hyundai Tucsons and Kia Souls to contact us.
The vehicles being recalled are:
- Over 375,000 2012-2016 model year Kia Souls
- 120,000 Hyundai Tucson SUVs from model years 2011 to 2013
Not only do these issues put drivers’ safety at risk, but they can also ruin consumers’ vehicles, which are a major investment for most. “Consumers consider their vehicle choices very carefully and are rightfully disappointed to learn that their vehicles might be dangerous, and that the vehicles may also be worthless given the nature of these alleged defects, ” said Keller Rohrback partner Gretchen Freeman Cappio, a longtime advocate for car consumers.
Consumers have already spent their time and resources trying to address their vehicles’ defects, but the problems are often recurring. “Hyundai has previously repaired cars with similar defects, only to have the problems return because the replacement parts suffered from the same defects. Consumers have reason to worry that just recalling and repairing these vehicles may not solve these serious problems,” said Keller Rohrback partner Ryan McDevitt.
